When you want to sell domains or get a second opinion, there's never enough places to post at. That said, I want to promote my friend and owner of DomainingSource.com, Mike.
He's done a great job of creating a quality forum in a short span of time, but forum communities can always fit more in. Good atmosphere and friendly people over there so stop on by and register.

Unfortunately the gals here didn't study up too much on this story, but at least the domain industry got some attention from the mainstream public.

This is one of those extremely low risk - possible reward scenarios.
Have you ever thought about subdomains on popular sites such as Myspace, Youtube, Squidoo, etc?
I haven't tested it, but I'll wager the major keywords on here fetch some type-in traffic from the sites users. Furthermore, there's even a little value in these names. Maybe a lot.
Think about it. Imagine if you owned Youtube.com/money. I bet that's pretty valuable. Furthermore, endusers such as TNT tv shows and celebrities have made a home page off of Myspace.
The great part is they're free to register and there is upside to nabbing a top domain. It may be worth your while to search out a few. I've only grabbed names that I actually use to produce items like videos (youtube.com/domainvlog) or my own personal website pages, but if you have a website you may want to grab the pop culture equivalent of it.
These names could turn out to be gems for marketing purposes and establishing a repoire using a reputable sites address. Another positive is at the very least, you garner another link to your home address.

Although I really like how the video has worked for bringing across my ideas, I definitely don't want to neglect the written portion of my domain sites.
My impression of the video site so far is that people who have invested in vlog domains and .tv extensions are really going to like the fact someone has combined a two for one and is actually using the site for that purpose. I'm not saying I started this by any means, but still how many sites do you come across that regularly update with pure video.
I haven't publicized domainvlog.tv very much, but I will. I can't install analytics so that's holding me back because I want to track my visitors and here they come from, how many I have, etc. When that and a few other details are in place, I'll make some forum posts and see if I can't get people interested. I'm also hoping I get some outside viewers interested in domains off of Youtube. The more people in the domain sector, the more valuable domains become. One, it saturates the market. Two, people become more aware of the different extensions and again the end result is better value due to the exposure.
On another topic, one thing I forgot to mention on .orgs the other day in a video is that I believe open software sites have a great fit for .orgs. For example, gimp.org and openoffice.org are prime software sites that are very popular that fall under the .org extension. These two have definitely helped pave the way.

Yes, we all wish we had the fortuitiveness to have registered pizza.com in 1995. Some of us - with other words - did have that advanced thinking. The million dollar domain days are pretty much gone unless you think of the next phenomena and register it before it happens. However, don't think for a second there aren't some $1,000 gems out there. Sometimes I'm floored by the names I see with the green check by the .com.
Last year I was shocked to see fantasyscouts(dot)com and a month ago it was livedrafts(dot)com (I'm into fantasy sports can you tell?). I won't say these are thousand dollar domains because I haven't sold them - it's only then - if I decide to - will I know the value. However, the point is that these are top keyword rich names in a fantasy sports industry that generates billions.
Thing creatively, register some good two word domains and you will have yourself a great turn in a couple of years. Waiting is the name of the game. Quick flipping works for some people, but I feel it cuts your potential and maximizing power way down. Admittedly, I am not a professional domainer (meaning this is not how I make my living), but I do see myself as a quiet investor.
As an investor, I am seeing a cyber real estate with huge growth that has yielded enormous ROI. Think about banks.net at Sedo. Probably 12 years ago someone grabbed that for $20 and if they retained it, paid around $200 for registeration fees. That's $220. Now the least it will sell for is $18,000. Assuming no one else bids on that steal of a deal, that's an 8,100% ROI.
Not too shabby.
The problem for a lot of people - including me a year ago - was I bought a bunch of junk.
My expedient advice for this segment is to educate yourself before you grab your investment domains. Understand the proven commidities, grab a choice few, sit on them, and you'll thank yourself in the near future.

A lot of people already like .org but it's viability in the industry is growing. It's almost as if it's .com's cousin.
When buying a .org here are the types of names that will land you the biggest site or reselling potential:
energy
generic groups (such as keyword + club) and group acronyms
download feeding sites
sites for college students
sites for available software (gimp.org and openoffice.org have paved this street for us)
niche community sites (forums can thrive under .orgs)
If you register a .org, these are the areas I feel you should be focusing on. With .org the focus needs to be on more than one. For example, an ebook isn't a good use of the .org extension. However, should you get a good keyword, .org has good public awareness and Internet users do trickle down and try it out if the .com isn't helpful.
On a personal note, I was crushed the other day to find out I had waited on registering studentnotes.org and someone took it a few days before I was ready to put my $8 down. I really liked that name.

These are some of the hardest domains to come by I have found. Of course you will always be dealing in a reseller's market, but the value of a good domain + keyword .com that makes sense will always be there. I'd speculate a good sounding name of that sort starts at $100.

Wow they have rolled back the clock and I'm sure in a measure to balance out the economy's slowed spending, Godaddy has lowered .infos to 99 cents! Let the good times roll. I just purchased 51 .infos for $60 bucks and ALL HAVE PRIVACY PROTECTION!
That's a whale of a steal of a deal.
Here's the math. If I can sell any of those domains for more than $1.50 or any of the domains can make that much in a year being parked, my investment and risk is paid for. You can't beat that. Plus there are some really nice .infos out there.
Here are some of the registered names:

Of course you can see the good side of this price cut. The bad side is .infos value should be lowered in general because of the arrival of clearance value. I'd say expect a 10-15% decrease in prices across the board for the more run of the mill/decent infos.

Domain Name Blog Yes, sometimes a lower extension such as .org, .info, or even .us can be beneficial to you.
Let me explain.
Of course high type-ins and good keywords are desirable anytime, but you may not want the lower quality extensions. You might want to rethink purchasing a few. I have noticed the pleasant trend that my lesser extensions are garnering surprising traffic and it's my contention that those looking for a site under the name are going down the extension ladder until they find a domain that isn't parked or blank. If you have merrychristmas.info, but the .com, .net, .org or all parked pages and yours is relevant, your page is going to benefit from the upper extensions un-user friendliness. Admittedly, this doesn't mean the traffic = that of a dot com. It will certainly be diluted as the general public's awareness of the different extensions is limited and hazy.
