Right now prices for domains don't seem to be fetching what they were about 1 to 2 years ago when buyers were paying top dollar. I cite the somewhat chilly $2.6 million for pizza.com as a prime example. However, also look at the current bid of approximately $1 million for dollars.com. I don't expect that to get much higher. Furthermore, I would expect collegetuition.net to at least reach the $1,000 barrier. Instead it sold for only $800. That's a bargain. It's definitely a buyer's market.
On the other hand, looking at the recent sales, some of the lower-key specialized names are overachieving. FantasySportsBasketball.com at $500? I am an active fantasy sports player and knowing the market well I wouldn't put that name at much above reg fee. It doesn't flow at all so that's certainly a maximum type price. Ongolf.com sold decently at $1,800. I think this might lead to somewhat of an on craze in domains. I actually have one "on" domain and I think it's a pretty good variation for domains in general so if you know of a "on" + good keyword .com it might be worth a look.
