Pizza.com Sold for $2,605,000

April 4, 2008 | sedo auctions

What an absolute steal for the buyer!  You saw my previous prediction of $7,500,000 and now to find out this domain didn't crack $3,000,000 is really surprising for me.  Pizza is a huge money maker in the US.  The buyer of the domain remains anonymous but whoever nabbed the domain - whether it be Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, another pizza place, or a reseller saved millions off a much more valuable name.  Of course, the market didn't bear the value I predicted so you think maybe the name isn't as valuable as I thought, but then again the US economy is on shaky grounds right now and some of the major players may be hurting from stock drops.  Anyway way you slice it (nice), the buyer is a big time winner.  Below is a link to the elated winner, but I'm not sure he realizes how much more he could have scored had he waited a little longer to put it on the market.  Still, $2m will keep him warm at night. http://www.ukraine.tv/forums/view.topic.php?board=8&topic=40

NorthCarolinaJobs.com at $50,500 at SEDO

March 31, 2008 | domain name blog, sedo auctions

While Pizza.com's bidding has stalled, NorthCarolinaJobs.com has skyrocketed to $50k.  That surprised me.  It's a good name, but $50,000 seems like more than it's worth to me.  At what point do you as a buyer think, well why not just get the .net for $3,000? Another good sell for a seller.  If the buyer is launching a huge operation - which I assume he or she must be - then it will all pan out in the end, but in this writer's estimation, this bid is above market value.  From what I've read $50k was the reserve.  If that's the case, I'd let it sit.

Pizza.com Surpasses $2m

What a name.  I predict this one goes for $7.5 million.  The current price is just over $2,100,000.  There are still 5 days left.  On a sale like this I'm always reminded how smart Sedo is.  They will receive at least $210,000 as the price stands more, probably a lot more.  If my prediction holds true - $750,000.  That is a winner right there.  I'd love to buy Sedo stock. Great name and I think this one might make the news and help bring some notoriety to the domain world.
