Google Unveils Pixel Watch in Video Sneak Peek

We suspected that Google would launch another smartwatch in 2018 after launching its Pixel Watch the previous year. Google has confirmed that the new Pixel Watch is set to launch on October 4 alongside the Pixel 8. The company also released a teaser clip showing the watch.

Google posted a video of the Pixel Watch 2 on Friday. However, due to its shortness, not much can be gleaned from the clip. The Pixel Watch retains the round, rounded design of its predecessor, including a large, rotatable, right-side, crown, and one button.

This video shows what appears to be a simpler watch face, with four app widgets underneath the hands. You can find markings on the bottom like IP68 for dust and water resistance and SPo2 to indicate the blood-oxygen sensor. This was originally promised when the Pixel Watch launched and activated six months after with a new software update.

It’s Good to Start with the Pixel Watch. The Next Steps

Google probably wants to generate hype about its products one month out from the launch date, particularly as all eyes are focused on Apple’s iPhone 15 launch on September 12th. Google’s sneak-peek videos are still impressive, but it isn’t surprising that the company releases them ahead of schedule. On Thursday the company released a similar short video highlighting the Pixel 8 Pro.

Pre-orders for the Pixel Watch 2 were announced in very small print on the screen, the same day as the launch of Pixel devices. There was also no hint at whether pricing would change from the first Pixel watch’s starting price tag of $350 (£339, AU$549).
